Biography
Dimitris Sarris studied Music, Business Administration (BA), Communication and Mass Media (BA), Cultural Policy, Management and Communication (MA) and he is a PhD candidate, as a State Scholarship Foundation scholar, researching «the cultural dimension of Sound in Education» at Panteion University of Athens, Department of Communication, Media, Culture (CMC). He is a Primary Education Music Teacher. He has been collaborator at Cultural Lab, (subject: Music) at CMC Department, Panteion University. During 2003 - 2010 he taught in Higher Education by focusing his researches to subjects related to Music, Technology, and Culture. With an interdisciplinary approach to these subjects, he studied and developed facilities for educational development, for didactics of Music (such as: sounding objects orchestras, Rhytmokenetics, improvised instrument-making, soundscape exploration) Technology (such as: «digital abacus», educational digital museums, reflection in computer education) and Culture (Comics and Education, Museum Culture and Education). This research has been announced in presentations, workshops, and publications, listed at his personal workpage www.cmc.gr. He organized concerts with student and professional orchestras.
Description of work with field recording
With the band «metasound Group Project» (www.metasound.gr) he arranged the performing works «ConcertoPedia» and «Edulations», with music created from constructed sounded objects, environmental sounds and sound installations.
