Biography
Lasse-Marc Riek is a German sound artist. Since 1997, he has been active internationally with exhibitions, concerts, lectures and projects and has given guest performances in galleries, art museums, churches and museums. Scholarships and artist-in-residence programs have been realised in Europe and Africa. Since 1998 he has been the author of numerous international publications of phonograms. In 2003 he founded the audio publishing company Gruenrekorder, focusing on soundscapes, field recordings and electro-acoustic compositions, and in this connection, acting internationally with artists and scientists.
Description of work with field recording
His art of sound can be described in terms such as acoustic ecology, wildlife sound and public recording. Here, Riek uses acoustic field recordings, storing them with different recording media, editing, archiving and presenting them in different contexts.
