Biography
Nicola Di Croce is a Venice based architect, musician, composer and scholar. His main research deals with the relation between territory and sound. He has released various acoustic and electronic records and has scored and contributed music to many short films, art installations and multimedia productions, working for prestigious cultural Institutions such as the Venice Biennale. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Venice Architecture University institute, carrying on a research about aural culture and soundscape within marginal contexts.
Description of work with field recording
The Listening and Field recording practices lead together to a new perception of the environment, where the sound language becomes a narrative and design vehicle. Fragments to be re-mixed as the essential tool for the understanding and the redefinition of the surrounding space. The present field recording work was realized within Palermo markets in September 2014, as part of the artistic residency organized by Dimora OZ, art collective, curators.
