Biography
I've spent almost 25 years working in radio in the UK - 19 of those were for the BBC. But my interest in audio began long before the days of cart machines and Uhers. It was at Primary School that my music teacher demonstrated recording the sound of a pin dropping onto a reel to reel tape. In more recent years I've been experimenting more with sound and discovering new ways to tell stories through audio. I love some of the techniques and approaches used by organisations like RadioLab, ARTE Radio and This American Life - and have been lucky enough to meet some of the guys behind them.
Description of work with field recording
I guess I'm a storyteller at heart. I'm currently looking at new and creative ways to tell stories and to explore the environment around us through the use sound - and that includes the human voice.
