The Institute of Creative Minds is not only creating quality artwork for the city we live in, but it is also preparing the practical grounds for the academic studies. The activity inspired by an article (http://cssh.ku.edu.tr/arha/faculty_research/7) written by Nina Ergin, a Koc University lecturer, will feature the recording of almost all the sounds that make present day Istanbul what it is. These sounds to be recorded through the acoustic ecology of the city will later be digitally processed and categorized to make a comprehensive sound library for the city. Unique outputs to be stored during the project will be shared with Istanbulites on installation-based exhibitions in contemporary art museums by enabling the visitors experience Istanbul with their eyes closed. It is planned that this long-term soundscape project to host interested students, academicians and sound engineers will take place between 2012-2015.
